Most cultivated foods are Turmeric, ginger, and Orange. There have water crisis. Every house have big water tank for reserve water. Reserved rain water is the main source of water here. Aborigines are collect rain water to reserve from the shade of house and perform daily tasks.

One of the most popular travel destinations for thirsty people in recent times is the Sajek Valley, located in Baghichhari upazila of Rangamati district.  The Sajek Valley is located on the Mizoram border of the northern part of Rangamati district. Tripura of India is bounded on the north by Sajek, Langadu of Rangamati on the south, Mizoram of India on the east, Dighinala of Khagrachari on the west. Sajek is the largest union in Bangladesh; Its size is 12 square miles.




The Sajek BGB camp is located here. Sajek's BGB Camp is the highest altitude BGB camp in Bangladesh. Under the well-planned scheme of the BGB members, this massive development of the present SAJAK has been possible through various developmental activities. Currently all kinds of security are guaranteed for tourists traveling to Sajek. Sajek is comprised of two ruluipara and kanglak parra.

Sajek Valley Height 

 Established in 1885, the Ruilui Parade is about 1720 feet above sea level. The Kanglak hill is situated on the Kanglak hill at a height of 1800 feet.  Sajeke is originally from Lusai, Pangkhawa and Tripura tribes. Sajek's banana and orange are quite famous. Much of the Rangamati is seen from the Sajek Valley. So the Sajek Valley is called the Rangamati Roof.




Travel

The distance from Khagrachari district headquarters to Sajek is about 70 km. And about 49 km from Dighinala. From Rangamati to Kaptai by boat, many steps can be taken to Sajek. Although Sajek is located in Rangamati district, its transportation facilities are from Khagrachari.

Now the most convenient and popular means of getting rid of the city from Khagrachari city or Dighinala by local car (zip car, CNG, motorcycle). In this case, 10 no, Baghaihat police and army camps will be on the way. From there it is important to obtain the original permission to travel to Sajek with the information of the traveling members. It's called Army Escort.

Armenians safely transport tourist cars to Sajek by carriage. Except for the two specified times of the day (10:30 am and 3:30 pm), the party is not allowed to attend the camp. These rules are followed to ensure maximum safety of the tourists. Decorated jeep cars are locally known as moon cars. On the way to Sajek, the Hajachara fountain is located in Baghaihat. Many tourists enjoy the beauty of the fountain by trekking a little along the main road.

Sajek Union, Volume, Population


Sajek is a union of the Baghaichari Upazila of Rangamati district of BangladeshThe size of the Sajek Union is 4,37,760 acres (1771.55 sq km). It is the largest union of Rangamati district even in Baghaichhari upazila. According to the figures of 2011, the population of the Sajek Union is 23,205. Of these, 23,205 are male and 12,743  are 10,462 female.

Location and boundaries:


The Sajek Union is located across the northern part of Baghichhari upazila. The distance from the upazila headquarters to the union is about 65 km.  Mauritius Union south of this union; West Union, Bangaltali Union, Kabakhali Union, Dighinala Union and Babuchara Union of Dighinala Upazila of Khagrachari District; It is located in Tripura, India, and Mizoram in the east.

Administrative Structure:


Sajek union is the 9th union council under Baghaichari Upazila. The administrative activities of the union are under the auspices of the Sajek Police Station. It is part of Rangamati Hill, the constituency of the 26th Parliament.

Baghaichari Upazila, Volume, and Location and boundaries


Baghaichhari is an upazila in Rangamati district of Bangladesh. The total area of Baghaichari Upazila is 1931.28 sq km, and it is the second largest upazila in Bangladesh and the largest upazila in Rangamati district. Located in Baghaichari upazila across the longitude from 23°04 to 23°44 north latitude and from 92°05 to 92°24 east of Rangamati district.

The distance from Rangamati district headquarters is about 146 km. Barkal Upazila and Longdu Upazilas on the south, Longadu Upazila on the west and Dighinala Upazila of Khagrachari district, Tripura province of India on the north and Mizoram province of India in the east.

The Kachalong area of Baghichhari upazila was covered in deep forest, because the tiger infestation was high here. It was named Baghaichari because of the various hill streams in the upazila.

Baghichhari Was Formerly Under The Dighinala Police Station Of Ramgarh Sub-Division. The Baghaichari police station was established under the Rangamati Sadar subdivision on 8th August 1968, making it difficult and time-consuming for the residents of this area. And in 1983, the administrative decentralization was transformed into an upazila. Currently there are 1 municipality and 3 unions under 2 police stations.

Rangamati District is an administrative area of Chittagong Division, located in the southeast of Bangladesh. This is a hill district.The total area of Rangamati district is 1.5 sq km. It is the largest district in Bangladesh.

Population :


According to the statistics of 20, the total population of Rangamati district is 6, 20,214. Of these, the males were 3,25,823 and females 2,94,391. 
The density is about 101 people per square kilometer. 36.82% of the total population is Muslim, 5.30% Hindu, 56.06% Buddhist, and 1.82% Christian and other religions. 
The district has indigenous people living in Chakma, Marma, Tanchangya, Bom, Chak, Morang, Tripura, Khayang, Khumi, Lusai, Mro, Pangkhoa, Santal, and Manipuri.

Location and boundaries :


Rangamatidistrict is located in the south-eastern part of Bangladesh from 22 ° 27 to 23 °44 north latitude and 91°56 to 92°33 east longitudes. Distance from the capital Dhaka is about 308 km and about 70 km from the Chittagong Divisional Headquarters. 
The district is bounded by Bandarban district on the south, Chittagong district and Khagrachari district on the west, Tripura province of India on the north and Mizoram province of India and Chin province of Myanmar in the east.  It is the only district in Bangladesh with two borders between India and Myanmar.

Establishment of Rangamati District:

Rangamati, Khagrachari and Bandarban - the Chittagong Hill Tracts District was created on 1860 June 20. Before the creation of the district it was named Corpus Mahal. In 1981 bandorban and 1983 khagrasory divided from Chittagong district.  Rangamati, the main part of the Chittagong Hill Tracts district, is known as the Hill District. Chakma Circle Chief is in Rangamati Hill District in the traditional revenue collection system. Chakma King is the Chief of the Constitutional Chakma Circle.

Rivers:

The main river in Rangamati district is Karnafuli. The river originates from the Lusai Hills of India and Rangamati enters the area through the northeast border at the mouth of the Thega River. The tributaries of the Karnaphuli River are Kachalong, Maini, Chengi, Thegga, Sarva, Rayangkhan. Besides, this district is the largest Kaptai Lake in Bangladesh.
These tributaries have enough rainfall during the monsoon, but in the dry season, there is almost no water supply.

In Rangamati district, the farming is done on the hills in the zoom system. The major crops grown in this district are paddy, jute, potato, cotton, maize, and mustard. The district also has a large number of fruit and forest orchards, which are exported by the people of this district.
The main exports include jack fruit, pineapple, forest products, wood, etc. Besides, fruits of mango, banana, litchi, jam etc. are also grown in this district. Apart from this, cashew nuts have greatly improved the economy of Rangamati.

Rangamati district is the largest paper mill in Bangladesh, Karnaphuli paper mill and Kaptai hydro power station is the largest water power station in the country. There are also rayon mill, garment factory, tribal bain industry, handicraft of bamboo and cane, ivory industry etc.

Chittagong-Rangamati highway is the main road to communication in Rangamati district. All types of vehicles can be approached.

Language and Culture:

Bangla is the official language in Sajek Valley Khagrachari area.  The locals speak Chittagong's regional language.  Also known as the language of other small ethnic groups are Chakma, Marma, Mro, Tripura, Bom, Lusai, Tanchangya, Chak, Khyang, Khumi, Pangkhua.
The main religious festival of Chakmas in the Highlands is the Biju Festival. The last two days of Chaitra Samiti and the first of the month of Bangla month are the Bijhu festival, which is held for three days. In addition, people of every religion hold different religious festivals.
